Samples and testers
Fragrance samples
Fragrance samples can help you learn texture, development and personal preference. They do not remove the need to identify the exact product or distinguish scent notes from ingredient disclosures.
A HUME Fragrance buying guide

Use descriptions as clues
Fresh, floral and woody wording can narrow choices, but a notes list cannot reproduce the finished smell.
Compare whole structures
Supporting notes can make two rose or vanilla listings feel different. Assess each complete composition.
Keep judgments separate
Enjoyment, surrounding presence and later detectability are different observations. Record them independently.
Try this before you buy
Describe two samples by their whole later character rather than one shared listed note.
