How to use cologne
Use cologne according to the exact product's directions and presentation. The word may refer to eau de cologne or be used broadly for fragrance, so identify the actual bottle before assuming a splash or spray routine.

Read the full name
Check whether the product says eau de cologne, uses Cologne as a name or simply describes a fragrance casually. Those usages do not establish one uniform concentration.
Identify the application mechanism
A splash and an atomizer require different handling. Follow the maker's method rather than pouring a product because you expect all cologne to be a splash.
Choose presence for the setting
Use a restrained first trial and judge the actual scent. Cologne is not a guarantee of low projection or a reason to ignore a workplace fragrance rule.
Try this before you buy
Record the full label and whether the product is a splash, spray or another format before applying it.
