Natural vs synthetic perfume ingredients
Perfume can use natural and synthetic fragrance materials, often together. These terms describe origin or production rather than a simple quality ranking, and naturalness alone does not establish safety, sustainability or personal preference.
A HUME Fragrance buying guide

Separate note names from materials
A rose or sandalwood note describes an intended smell and does not prove a natural extract is present. Ask for verified formulation information if sourcing matters.
Avoid chemical-free language
Both natural and synthetic materials are chemical substances. Judge actual documentation rather than treating a marketing adjective as a complete explanation.
Choose with relevant evidence
Ingredient requirements, scent enjoyment and environmental claims are different questions. A general origin category does not resolve all three or replace product directions.
Try this before you buy
Turn a broad natural preference into a specific question about ingredient information or a verified claim you want to check.
