Formats and concentration
Why do perfumes contain alcohol
Alcohol, commonly ethanol in many spray perfumes, serves as part of the carrier system that helps distribute fragrance materials. Its presence does not independently establish quality, and different finished products can use different carrier systems.
A HUME Fragrance buying guide

Think about the finished format
A spray perfume needs a formulation suited to its intended application. The carrier is part of that design rather than a statement that the scent itself is inferior.
Do not judge from the first moment alone
An initial carrier impression and the developing fragrance are different observations. Follow directions and evaluate the later scent instead of deciding solely from the immediate spray.
Use product information for exclusions
If you need to avoid a particular ingredient, check the actual label and maker information. Bottle type or concentration terminology does not verify absence.
Try this before you buy
Separate your first application impression from the fragrance you perceive later when comparing a spray perfume.
